Passionate about baking? We are looking for you to join our team at Alforno Bakery & Cafe. Alforno is both an Italian ‘pasticceria’ (patisserie) and upscale casual restaurant. Located in one of the most vibrant neighbourhoods in downtown Calgary, Alforno is a stone throw away from the Bow River pathway. Fresh artisan bread and pastries are prepared in-house, as well as full service brunch, lunch, dinner & grab & go. Our pastry & baking team is responsible for working together to produce superior quality baked goods and desserts in sufficient quantities to meet the demands of the guests for each meal produced. All goods produced must meet the standards of the Company and all food safety guidelines. The Baker is responsible for working in conjunction with the pastry team to produce superior quality baked goods in sufficient quantities to meet the demands of the guests for each meal produced. The Baker reports directly to the Pastry Chef, but also takes direction from the pastry sous chef and other team members. All goods produced must meet the high standards of Teatro Restaurant Group and all food safety guidelines.
Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
Sound knowledge of preparing baked goods.
Operate all kitchen appliances (mixer, proofer, dough divider, oven…)
Ability to work supervised or unsupervised
Sound knowledge of current sanitation processes
Efficient time management skills
Strong organizational skills
Knowledge of health and safety regulations pertaining to the restaurant industry.
Self-motivated, with a positive attitude and a consistent display of professionalism.
Acquire and maintain a strong knowledge of trends in the food industry.
Highly effective teamwork skills.
Attention to detail in all areas of work.
Working Conditions
This position will spend 100% of the time standing.
Must be able to transport up to 50 pounds on occasion and up to 35 pounds regularly.
Will be constantly exposed to high temperatures in the kitchen environment.
Manual dexterity required to use knives and kitchen appliances.
Overtime as required”
