Job Description
“PURPOSE
Reporting to the Food Service Supervisor, the Dietary Aide will provide meal service according to the resident plan of care while ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
(Other duties may be assigned).
A. PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Follow and meet all pre-determined work routine and schedules
Provide meal service according to resident plan of care for breakfast, lunch and dinner
Prepare and deliver nourishment
Prepare tables and serving areas for meal services
Carry out all other job related duties that contribute to the team approach of resident care as assigned by the Food Service Supervisor and/or Director of Support Services
Address all concerns/inquiries from residents and tenants Ensure meals are served on time and within Belmont guidelines Follow each resident plan of care and communicate any discrepancies to Food Service Supervisor and/or Registered Dietician in a prompt manner Ensure work area meets all health and safety standards
Work in a cooperative manner with all Belmont House employees including Dietary Aides to serve needs of tenants and residentsFollows cleaning schedule and sanitation guidelines at all times Support energy efficiency by ensuring all equipment, unoccupied areas, etc. are powered down appropriatel
Ability to articulate and demonstrate resident safety strategies
Adheres to health and safety rules, regulations and policies of Belmont House, the Occupational Health and Safety Act and related regulations set out by the Ministry of Health and Long term Care at all times
COMPETENCIES (Behavioural & Technical Skills)
Ability to interact with seniors
Excellent organizational skills will ability to meet all department goals
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
Must be able to read, write, understand and speak English
Ability to learn tasks within a short period of time (will receive on the job training)
Ability to articulate and demonstrate resident safety strategies
Adheres to policies and procedures of Belmont House and regulations set out by the Ministry of Health and Long term Care at all times
Demonstrates understanding of, and compliance with, responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and the organizations’ health and safety plans, policies and procedures. Attends Health and Safety in-services and takes action to address unsafe conditions and procedures, to ensure a healthy a safe work environment.
Demonstrates understanding of, compliance with, and commitment to, resident/tenant safety responsibilities and corresponding plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for resident/tenants. Attends resident/tenant safety in-services and takes action to address unsafe conditions and procedures.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Must have successfully completed a Food Service Worker training program at an established college as listed in the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology Act, 2002 or a registered private career college in Ontario.
Previous experience in long term care environment preferred”
