Role Summary:
The primary responsibility of the Banquet Captain is to offer expertise in the area of Food and Beverage as it relates to all Banquet areas within the hotel.  Reporting directly to the Director of Banquets, the position is responsible for directing the Banquet team in accordance with corporate and hotel standards, while maintaining a four star dining experience in our conference facilities, and ensuring adherence to administrative standards required in the department.
 
This position requires exceptionally strong communication and a collaborative approach with all hotel leadership team members and departmental colleagues.
 
The Banquet Captain’s responsibilities also include:
Ensuring the seamless movement of guests in and out of the hotel banquet facilities and providing an elevated dining guest experience in our conference areas. 
Provide mentorship and management to all Banquet colleagues, ensuring the delivery of our service promise and continuity of the front of house team’s activities. 
Ensure the effective implementation of and adherence to Delta Hotels and Resorts Brand Standards.
Effective management of the Banquet department to ensure the achievement of our financial goals.  Responsible for the banquet front of house financials (budget, forecast, cost controls etc).
Resolving guest concerns through service recovery and working collaboratively with fellow leaders and colleagues, to implement change when necessary.
Monitor the daily performance of the Banquet team to ensure the achievement of our vision and goals. 
Provide communication within the department that is consistent and thorough, ensuring all relevant Corporate programs are understood by colleagues and that all daily client/group requirements are communicated.
Support the Director of Banquets with the recruitment, training and development of colleagues, with a strong focus on engagement, productivity, health & safety and elevated guest experience.
Foster a coaching culture that encourages colleagues to achieve personal and professional success.
Engage in managing internal and external expectations by building strong relationships; communicating issues; conducting reviews and meetings; problem solving and participating in and leading in cross functional hotel assignments.
Support the Director of Banquets in fostering and developing new partnerships and relationships with suppliers and the community in order to create efficiencies in relation to value and service.
In collaboration with the Director of Rooms, develop and implement a strategic plan for the Front Office department.
 
Qualifications:
–          Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends.  Hours of work will be scheduled based on business volumes/operational demands                 and will vary.
–          Minimum 3 years Banquet Captain or Supervisor experience.
–          University/College education, preference given to hotel management graduates.
–          Proven ability as an effective leader, possessing a high degree of professionalism, sound human resources and administrative skills.
–          Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
–          Computer literate in Opera, Word, Excel, Micros.
–          Results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well in a busy and demanding environment.
–          Proven experience building positive and collaborative teams who are focused on providing exceptional guest experiences.
–          Demonstrated success managing overall guest experience.
–          Must be energetic, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
–          A background check will be required for this position.
–          Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.  Please note that the hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

This position requires a highly motivated, energetic, super organized hands-on professional with exceptionally strong leadership and collaboration skills who can guide and motivate colleagues, as well as consult and influence internal and external partners and collaborate with cross-functional teams. The Banquet Captain must have strong communication skills, leadership presence and the ability to interact with a diverse group of clients.  The position requires professional level interpersonal skills to interact and communicate effectively with stakeholders from different origins and cultures
