The Food Services Manager leads culinary staff and manages all aspects of culinary service within the residence to consistently deliver an exceptional dining experience to our Retirement residents and guests. The incumbent is a culinary professional, who will execute our “”best in class”” culinary strategy, offering outstanding service and creative, diverse and flexible menus to meet and exceed our resident’s expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Work in collaboration with the Executive Director and National Director of Culinary Services to implement the culinary strategic plan in order to achieve high levels of resident satisfaction;
Lead and manage culinary staff to achieve department goals, including engagement, service and safety.
Leverage creativity and knowledge of resident preferences to enhance menus, maintaining food quality in compliance with regulations, company policies and culinary standards;
Oversee and direct daily operations and provide culinary expertise, training, and operational support to culinary teams to ensure the provision of high quality food services in compliance with culinary standards and company policies;
Effectively manage food budget by leveraging corporate procurement, ensuring effective inventory controls, and minimizing food waste/spoilage;
Manage and minimize labour costs through effective scheduling and labour plans;
Ensure to meet and strive to exceed operations standards, food quality, service presentation, and health and safety compliance;
Cultivate and maintain effective partnerships with site level management and the National Director of Culinary Services to validate, and execute the culinary strategic plan;
Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, morality, and integrity as set out in Revera’s Code of Conduct.
Qualifications
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a Culinary Management role;
Retirement industry experience is considered an asset;
Two (2) years community college Food Services Supervisor course or equivalent is considered an asset;
Must possess a food handler certificate;
A Red Seal designation or the equivalent and Smart Serve certification is considered an asset;
Knowledge of applicable government regulations and requirements, including but not limited to Provincial Food Premises Act, Health & Safety legislation;
Familiar with unionized environments and language;
Strong leadership skills with experience managing, training, coaching, and evaluating a team;
Ability to analyze challenging situations and develop effective solutions;
Excellent time management and decision making capabilities with minimal supervision;
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
Proficiency with computers; including Microsoft Office applications;
Proven ability to manage large hourly (usually unionized) workforce;
Ability to manage food costs and budgets;
Ability to create and/or modify menus to meet resident population preferences;
Current (within 6 months) Vulnerable Position/Sector Screening (VPS).”
