Summary
The Royal Canadian Yacht Club was founded in Toronto in 1852 to serve both as a yachting recreational club and an unofficial auxiliary of the Royal Navy in the defence of the waters of Lake Ontario. We are one of Canada’s premier sailing and social clubs, with an emphasis on family participation, the development of our junior sailors, and a Corinthian attitude towards excellence in sailing. The RCYC operates year-round from two facilities: our summer home at the Island Clubhouse and our City Clubhouse in downtown Toronto. With over 4700 Members we have extensive services in Food and Beverage along with Fitness, Sports and Sailing facilities.
The Server is responsible to ensure that all Members and Guests enjoy superior dining service. This is achieved through the efficient service of the tables. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring Member and Guest expectations are exceeded within the Club standards. This position must demonstrate strong communication skills, providing exceptional customer service while maintaining a professional demeanour.
Job Duties
Ensure cleanliness of china, cutlery and glassware
Remain visible and available at all times to better service Members and Guests
Communicate with team members, including kitchen and bar staff, at all times with updates or any details for events
Be aware of other events being run at the same time
Prepare setup items to open the Dining Room
Maintain a clean and tidy work area at all times
Ensure all leftover food/beverage is discarded or placed in designated areas
Ensure Dining Room is reset to its operational status
Report to Food and Beverage Services Supervisor or Manager on duty upon taking breaks or ending of shift
Maintain accurate knowledge of Dining Room Menu and Wine List
Perform other tasks as assigned by management
Adhere to standards, policies and procedures set by the Club and Management (i.e. Uniforms, cell phones, dress code, etc.)
Enforce the Club’s Alcohol Policy (Zero Tolerance)
Special Functions
Responsible for the upkeep of Food and Beverage storage areas
Assist with the setup and breakdown of special setups for events
Requirements
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
Attention to detail
Ability to work in a team environment
Motivation to continually improve the way we do business
Energetic and flexible, able to work well under pressure
Previous customer service experience is an asset
Knowledge of sailing is not mandatory but considered an asset
Ability to lift, bend, and stoop
Ability to follow direction and complete tasks as assigned

Health and Safety
Must work in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act Regulation and follow in accordance to the Club’s Health and Safety policies and procedures
Report all accidents, illnesses, or ‘near miss” incidents to your direct reporting Manager immediately
Standing for long periods of time
Be able to lift up to 15 lbs.
Hours of Work
Seasonal position (May-August), full-time hours
Able to work shifts (day/afternoons/evenings including weekends)
