Role Summary:
The primary responsibility of the In Room Dining Server is to ensure meals ordered to guest rooms are delivered in a timely manner, ensuring accuracy and an elevated guest experience.  The In Room Dining Server will be passionate about service and lend innovative ideas that align with our business and help create memorable experiences. 
 
The In Room Dining Server’s responsibilities also include:
Ensuring the presentation and quality standards of the Delta Toronto are met.
Provide personal recognition to guests, acknowledging return guests, using guest names, offering efficient service, ensuring guest satisfaction.
Ensure every customer receives an elevated experience, from the moment they place their order to the moment we return to pick up their tray.
Ensure the effective adherence to Delta’s F&B brand standards.
Maximize efficiency through planning and preparing for each meal period including but not limited to the maintenance of uniforms, float, service equipment, china, glass and cutlery, linen, condiments, work stations, tray set-ups, knowledge of out of stock items and daily specials.
Ensuring the In Room Dining Department is organized and clean and that hotel hallways are kept clear of trays and dishes.
Deliver and pick up food and beverage orders to club lounge or were ever a guest service is required.
Ensure a sound understanding of the menu and offerings, specifically to respond to customer inquiries and to adequately make recommendations to our guests.
Maximize food and beverage sales through the suggestive selling of specials, alcoholic beverages, desserts and specialty coffees.
Open and/or close the IRD area and in absence of the f and b leadership team be responsible for the smooth operation of the department, providing direction where needed.
Engage in professional, friendly and appropriate interaction with guests, providing knowledge of the city and recommendations for customers visiting Toronto.
Deal with challenging requests/situations while maintaining poise and a positive resolution driven attitude.
Read and connect with guests individually, tailoring service to each. 
Maintain a favourable working relationship with fellow colleagues in the Kitchen, as well as with colleagues throughout the hotel/company.
Work collaboratively with fellow leaders and colleagues to resolve customer concerns through service recovery. 
Demonstrate our value of teamwork by genuinely cooperating and assisting fellow colleagues.
With customer safety always in mind, create a fun and vibrant environment for customers.
Both at work and away from work, project a favourable image of the Hotel.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by department leaders.
 
Physical requirement:
Constant standing and walking throughout shift
Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50lbs
Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps

Qualifications:
Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including weekends.  Hours of work will be scheduled based on business volumes/operational demands and will vary.  We can work around your school schedule!
Previous experience in a fast paced environment, preferably in food & beverage, is an asset.
Must have valid Smart Serve certification.
A professional, friendly manner, committed to providing exceptional guest service with a neat professional appearance.
Must be naturally friendly and upbeat, genuinely smiling at all times.  Must have warm and inviting telephone etiquette.
Results oriented with the ability to be flexible and work well in a busy and demanding environment.
Proven experience building positive and collaborative relationships.
Must be a dedicated, keen and self-disciplined individual with a sincere desire to provide excellent customer service within a high volume environment while maintaining a motivated and organized environment for fellow colleagues.
A background check will be required for this position.
Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.  Please note that the hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.
