Job Description
“Saskatoon Co-op is currently accepting applications for a Full Time Sommelier. Applicants must be strongly service orientated, have a high level of professionalism and have excellent communications skills.
To qualify, applicants must have a recognized Sommelier Designation with 3 years of experience in the wine, spirits and beer industry. Applicants must have experience with product selection and be up to date with wine, spirits, and beer products and trends. Applicants must have experience hosting wine seminars and public events. Working knowledge of SLGA rules and regulations, experience in digital media and marketing, and experience teaching wine courses from entry level to advanced students, will all be considered an asset.
The Sommelier will be responsible for creating and implementing a marketing strategy to drive wine sales, build a foundation of customer relationships, through development and delivering of wine knowledge training and own and execute the brand platform that differentiates Co-op Wine Spirits Beer in the marketplace. Other responsibilities will be to manage and host educational classes, interact with customers on the sales floor to provide expert advice, provide continuous education to staff and establish standards of excellence in shelf set-up and display merchandising, focusing on high margin and premium products.
